Relief Appeal (3)
Taiz governorate has been living in very hard humanitarian conditions for almost two years due to the imposed war as the lack of aid arrival from INGOs for affected people inside the governorate made it even worse, particularly after breaking the siege of the west of the city through Dhabab area at the middle of Aug 2016.
Because of such continues tragedy and sufferance that Taiz inhabitants live, the hospitals are almost to be closed in any time and Althawrah Hospital is going to be the first one and Alrawdha, which are the biggest hospitals of the city as they receive a lot of patients and injured people, due to the operational budget interruption, the support stopped and the lack to medical supplies and not being able to pay the cadre’s wages as well.
The governmental hospital, Althawrah, has issued several relief appeals after some sections stopped, warning of the rest of sections to be stopped due to the lack and the interruption of the operational budget of the hospital.
At the same time, the starvation that happened in Hodeida, started threating Taiz inhabitants after stopping paying their monthly salaries for about three months as most of these households they don’t have any other income resources. What’s more, the continuity of displacement process, and forced displacement for inhabitants from armed-conflict areas in particular (Aldabah – As Silw – Hayfan) in the west and south of Taiz has made the size of scarcity even more and the thousands of households under the poverty line.
Besides The deteriorating humanitarian situation that Taiz lives by in 15 districts and thousands of affected and displaced people suffer, Taiz still faces armed conflicts so far.
Therefore, Taiz province suffers of the spread of deadly epidemics and the cholera has been the last one as WHO has mentioned in its report that Taiz is one of all governorates threatened with this disease and recorded several of deaths accordingly. Moreover, Taiz still has no basic life services so far such as; water, electricity, hygiene, sanitation…etc.
This is what has made the Coalition of Humanitarian Relief in Taiz (CHR) surprised of the ignorance to frequent relief appeals it made since the broken of the west siege till today.
CHR in Taiz, watching such increase of sufferance of the governorate inhabitants, warns again of humanitarian disaster about to happen and threat hundreds of inhabitants in case of there is no rapid and urgent intervention to save the city in both food and health fields.
The government announced since a while that Taiz – the most populous in Yemen – is stricken city due to the ongoing war and siege while INGOs issued in their reports that Taiz was the most affected governorate among others according to the number of murdered, inured and displaced people, as well.
Therefore, the Coalition of Humanitarian Relief in Taiz (CHR) renovates its appeal for the government, King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aids and the different international organizations for a rapid intervention and provides these affected people in Taiz with humanitarian relief aids as much as possible.
