The Coalition of Humanitarian Relief in Taiz held a Press Conference through its partners (Bena Charity & Studies and Educational Media Center) on the Educational Indicators in Taiz

Bena Charity for Human Development & the Studies and Educational Media Center – the partners of the Coalition of Humanitarian Relief in Taiz held a press conference on the Educational Indicators in Yemen, particularly in Taiz

In the conference, the education situation and its indicators of the private and governmental universities and technical institutes have been discussed.

The report has clarified that during the current studying session of 2015/2016, about 1600 schools of the all provinces were closed as 34% was quite or somehow damaged and 22% was either destroyed or occupied militarily.

With the return of study in Taiz University, 30000 students, registered before, only 70% were able to attend the exam of the second semester of 2014/2015. 90% of the teaching members were displaced due to the damage happened to their homes during the current war. This is to say that the estimated cost of operating Taiz University again urgently is almost one hundred millions YER.

In the conference, it was recommended on the necessity of stopping the ongoing invasion on the educational institutions and finding alternatives for funding the education through a contribution of inhabitants, merchants and the civilian community organizations and looking for new partners as well. It was also recommended to develop the education extension officially and unofficially and to make pressure on preventing the split of the ministry in addition to work on supporting the primary classes.

The chairman of the Coalition of Humanitarian Relief in Taiz, Dr.Abdulkareem Shamsan, and the manager of training department, Mr. Ali Alqobaty, the executive manager of Bena Charity Mr.Riyadh Althobhany, the manager of Alhekma Branch Dr.Abdu Alqolaybi, and the chairman of Studies & Educational Media Center Mr.Ahmad Albihairy have attended the conference.
