Important Statement (2)
Taiz city still lives tragedy situations due to the ongoing war in different areas of the governorate, the siege, imposed since more than one year on thousands of civilians has made it even worse in different fields of health, food and environment. A part of the siege of the western entrance has been broken, though.
At the time of sending tens of appeals from Taiz city to the specialized entities, humanitarian NGOs, regionally and internationally, since the mid of Aug 2016, regarding the necessary interference to save civilians’ lives and avoid falling into humanitarian disaster frequently and support the city with the essential life needs, the city still has had almost nothing with comparison to the needs of the big population and has no response so far after the siege imposed on the city which was a big obstacle in front of those aids outstanding in the entrances of the city.
In addition to the miserable situation, that Taiz province lives by, 15 districts of its still faces armed clashes until today and there are thousands of affected, displaced and distressed people living over there.
We, in the Coalition of Humanitarian Relief, renew in this second statement, as the siege of western side of the city has been broken partially and become more secure to transport relief aids, our appeals and calls to the humanitarian NGOs and specialized entities to support the city and provide it with the necessary needs urgently.
As a matter of fact, Yemeni government has announced that Taiz city , which has the biggest population, a stricken city due to the ongoing war and the siege; whereas other international NGOs in a final report, issued on 10th Aug 2016, considered Taiz the most damaged cities in Yemen regarding the number of murdered, injured and displaced people.
