Yemen – Taiz
The Coalition of Humanitarian Relief in Taiz has issued earlier today a new report on the humanitarian situations during Aug 2016, including the total human and material losses that have been monitored due the events in the governorate and the health and education situation besides the humanitarian relief needs.
CHR mentioned in its report that 165 were murdered and 596 were injured (woman and children) during the last Aug due to the sniping and shelling indiscriminately to neighborhoods and popular markets.
The men were the highest number among victims as 137 were murdered and 491 were injured; while the children were the second category among the victims as 21 were murdered and 21 were injured; whereas, 7 women were murdered and 35 were injured, most of them have serious injuries.
Damage and Destroy
CHR said that 37 houses were damaged during Aug, 10 of them were exploded by mines and IEDs in Hayfan district, Thabat area and Hasanat, the east of the city. 4 houses were totally damaged in different neighborhoods of the city; while 23 houses were partially damaged due to the discriminate shelling in Alselw district, Maqbanah, Hayfan and some districts of the city.
The Coalition of Humanitarian Relief assures in this report that Water, Electricity and hygiene are still cut off in the city as well as there is a lack of most of the health services and medicines eventhough the western siege of the city was broken partially in the middle of Aug.
Displacement
The Coalition indicated in its report that about 53 households were displaced from their areas due to the armed conflicts in Hayfan and Almaqaterah districts, Hethran and Aldhabab areas as well.
These displaced households displaced to schools, hosted families or to tents in places looked like semi-deserts as it was happened to Alwazyeiah displaced people who they weren’t able to bring all of their personal stuff, furniture and their properties with them for being frightened of death.
Alshaqab Village
It’s located in the south of Saber Almawadem district, its inhabitants lives very difficult situations due to the violent confrontations for months besides the siege imposed in its entrances which made them not able to bring in any necessary life supplies unless through secondary roads (severe ruggedness) in which they spend many hours to reach by.
In such a situation, the Coalition of Humanitarian Relief was able to move a convey of relief and medical aids to the village, responding to the frequent human calls made by Alshaqab inhabitants, funded by the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Relief Aids, sponsored by the Local Administration Minister – the chairman of the High Committee of Relief, and Taiz governor, through sever-ruggedness roads. The CHR calls all the relief organizations, local and international ones, on sending emergency aids to the siege village.
Needs
CHR in Taiz assures on the necessary monthly needs of relief aids in Health, environment, food, shelter, water and petrolum produts, which have been published in its previous report, in order to ensure the public life progress for residents in the governorate.
The CHR appeals all the relief organizations, local and international ones, on sending emergency aids to the siege village and helping the affected inhabitants, particularly after the partial breaking down of the western seige of the city.
The Coalition has cleared that the entire cost of the monthly needs in which they might meet the governorate requirments regarding health and environment fields is about more than 82 millions dollars. What’s more, about 150000 food baskets are needed to displaced and affected households monthly.
Regarding shelter, displaced people in the govenorate lacks to 25 shelter centers to alleviate suffering of 16500 individuals and 29858 displaced households and hosted familes as well. About two millions in need to using and drinking water based on the Worldwide Sphere standards.
Taiz governorate has been living very hard and difficult situations since the beginning of war in 14th Apr 2015 and the seige on the enterances for more than 12 months, depraving the governorate of receiving cosumed food materials, medicines and medical supplies, drinking water and even oxygen cylinders for injured and pateints in the hospitals.
In order to help at ensuring the public-life progress of Taiz residents, the governorate is in need to be provided with (685800 litres of diesel monthly) and (174600 litres of petrol monthly).
